Day 17: Respecting Ourselves and Others
Scripture: Philippians 2:3-4 - "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Reflection: Respecting ourselves and others is essential for healthy relationships.
Application: Show respect for yourself and others in your interactions today.
Prayer: Lord, help me to respect myself and others, valuing each person as Your creation. Amen.
Respect is another cornerstone when it comes to setting boundaries. It’s about valuing ourselves and others as creations made in the image of God. When we truly grasp this, it changes how we treat ourselves and interact with others. For example, respecting yourself means not always bending to others' demands if doing so would compromise your values or mental health. And respecting others means not pressuring them to bend to yours. It’s recognizing that everyone has their own values and struggles and treating these with honor and dignity.
